Lego Announces New Minecraft Sets

Lego recently announced that a few new Minecraft sets will be available later this year. Unlike the last iteration of Minecraft Lego sets, these sets will be full minifig sized sets. Lego and Minecraft go together pretty well because Minecraft is pretty much a simplier, digital version of Lego. Minecraft is so popular that it was recently purchased by Microsoft for $2 billion. If you’re a fan of Lego but have never played Minecraft before, I dare you to sit down and play it in creative mode. Just start digging tunnels and building and you will see why this game is so addictive. Here is the descriptions of a couple of the sets. The above picture is of the farm set.

The Cave

Venture into The Cave on a dangerous quest for vital resources! Wield the iron pickaxe to dig and battle against hostile zombie and spider mobs. Blast out valuable ores and minerals with the TNT and combine the flowing water and lava to create precious obsidian! When you’re done battling and mining, restore your energy levels with the chest of bread. Proceed with caution! Rebuild the set for more LEGO Minecraft creations! Includes 2 minifigures with assorted accessories: Steve and a zombie, plus a spider

The Farm

Yield renewable resources with The Farm! You’ll need food to survive, so fence in the livestock and channel the flowing water to nurture the crops. Harvest pumpkins, wheat, sugar cane and carrots. Use the crafting table to create a pumpkin helmet or jack-o-lantern. But watch out for the skeleton with his bow and arrow after nightfall! Rebuild the set for more LEGO Minecraft creations or combine with 21115 The First Night and other sets in the series for an even bigger Minecraft adventure! Includes a Steve minifigure with an accessory, plus a skeleton, cow and a sheep.

Bad Piggies Lets You Build Fun Vehicles

A few days ago I posted about Rovio coming out with a new game where the pigs from Angry Birds would be the star. The game just came out last week and I downloaded it for my iPad and have had a chance to play it. It’s called Bad Piggies. The genre of this type of game has been called a “physics puzzler”. The story goes that the swine are stranded on a desert island and have to build vehicles and contraptions to make their way to the delicious eggs. Your job is to use a limited number of parts to assemble, in a grid like structure, these modes of transportation that will take you to these eggs. Some of the parts that you use to build with include wheels, fans, wood and engines. On your way to the goal there are obstacles like ramps, rocks and jumps for you to take into consideration while building.

I’m excited to progress more into the game because it looks like once you get farther, more advanced parts will become available. Bad Piggies is definitely more difficult than Angry Birds and it will make you think more than it too. If you are expecting a game similar to Angry Birds then you may be disappointed but if you are looking for a contraption builder that will make you think with the some of the same fun gameplay elements that Rovio has brought to you before, this game is for you. The game was so popular at release that it became No. 1 on the iTunes App Store charts in just over three hours.
