Android Offers 10 Cent Apps In Celebration!

10 cent Android Apps

Google announced that as of last Thursday Android is celebrating the download of 10 billion apps. With the holiday season in full bloom and because 10 billion is such a big number, Google is having big discounts on 10 new apps a day for 10 days. The theme seems to be 10 here. Now is a great time for Android users to pick up some highly discounted premium apps, some of which cost $5 before the deal. I have already picked up some great apps for my phone including:

  • Beautiful Widgets
  • Can Knockdown
  • Game Dev Story
  • Blue Skies Live Wallpaper

Lowering Your Comcast Cable & Internet Bill

Last year I called Comcast to see what deals they had on cable TV. At the time I already had Comcast internet. The man I spoke to set me up with a package that included hi-speed internet, hundreds of channels of HD cable TV including HBO, and a DVR all for roughly $110/month. The deal seemed good and I was satisfied with that price.

I was quite surprised when 12 months after I started with the package the bill shot up to $180/month. I was upset so I decided to call Comcast to see if there was anything they could do for me. I told them that if they couldn’t lower my bill back to the reasonable price I was paying before the price hike that I’d like to cancel the cable service. The gentleman on the line from Comcast took a look to see what promotions that they had and found one that was similar to my old bill.

From my experience, Comcast has a history of this. They figure that unless you complain about your service pricing being too high, then you are okay with paying it. Comcast also has a monopoly in my area on high-speed internet. They are literally the only company in my neighborhood that offers it. The moral of this story is that it doesn’t hurt to complain about high monthly cable bills because they are negotiable.

Wendy’s Where’s The Beef Free T-shirt

Wheres The Beef

Wendy’s has a pretty cool promotion going on right now. The first 50,000 fans that go to their Facebook page and ‘Like’ them as well as use their Facebook app get to choose from one of five t-shirts that will ship to them for free. In order to claim your free t-shirt, you will need to play a few games, watch a video and answer a few questions. No worries thought because it’s all fun to do. Not sure on how long it will take to receive the shirt but if it’s anything like similar free things I have sent away for in the past, it may take 6 weeks or more.

Here are some things I learned about Wendy’s burgers:

  • 100% Pure Beef
  • Fresh, Never Frozen
  • North American Beef
  • Made-to-order

HP WebOS Touchpad $99 Firesale

Late last week HP announced that they’re discontinuing their tablet WebOS Touchpads as they are focusing on other aspects of their brand. Because of this, HP felt it was necessary to drop the price of their Touchpads from $499 to $99 on the 16GB version and $599 to $150 on the 32GB version. This being the cheapest price for a tablet computer ever, the internet has been a buzz on the Touchpad. HP’s inventory on their website sold out within hours and when other stores including Amazon, MacMall and sellers on ebay priced the Touchpad at the new lower price, they also instantly sold out.

Here are some of the technical details on the $99 HP Touchpad:

  • 16GB internal storage
  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core APQ8060 processor
  • 9.7″ diagonal LED backlit touch display with high-gloss finish, scratch-resistant coating
  • Front-facing 1.3MP camera and digital microphone for video chat
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless
  • Beats audio

Nintendo Wii Price Drop And Budget Games

Nintendo Wii Select Games

There was a time about five years ago that you couldn’t find a Wii console on the shelves of stores and they were selling online for more than double their retail price. Now however with just about every household in the world having one they are pretty easy to come by. Because the technology is dated and not selling as well Nintendo has dropped the price of the Wii from $199 to $149. In addition to that they are bundling in the Mario Kart Wii game.

Also, Nintendo just recently introduced the Nintendo Select line of games. Although it’s currently a small list, the games are great titles that are budgeted at only $20. The list includes:

  • Animal Crossing: City Folk
  • Mario Super Sluggers
  • Zelda Twilight Princess
  • Super Smash Bros: Brawl

Keep in mind that Nintendo has recently announced the launch of a new console expected to debut later this year and go on sale next year. The Wii may be near the end of it’s life cycle.
