Today Amazon finally announced it’s long awaited tablet, the Kindle Fire. The 7-inch device will run a version of Android and at just $199 it is a lot cheaper than other tablet devices. The fire has some interesting features including free cloud storage for all your Amazon content, unlimited instant streaming of over 10,000 popular movies and TV shows with Prime membership, dual-core processor, a fast web browser called Silk, and an Amazon Appstore with thousands of popular apps and games.
In addition to the Kindle Fire, Amazon also announced three new other versions of Kindle, the Kindle, the Kindle Touch, and the Kindle Touch 3G priced at $79, $99, and $149 respectively. These soon to be released devices show that Amazon is serious about their stake in the future of the tablet market. If Amazon can keep the prices this low for an iPad competitor like the Kindle Fire, there may be some serious competition for Apple in the near future.
You should need to pre-order your Kindle Fire now to reserve your place in line because orders are prioritized on a first come, first served basis. It will be released on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The Kindle Fire may be a very hot seller this holiday season and may sell for more than list price if demand is high enough.
